Tips of The Month
Speed Up Your PDF Process
If you make a lot of PDF files using Acrobat Distiller, consider putting the Distiller application onto a RAM disk (around 5MB should do it). We notice that Distiller takes about 40% less time to process a PostScript file this way. Also in general, running all your applications from a separate disk (other than your startup drive, such as a different partition) will take up less memory and will process a bit faster.

Other uses for Quark XPress Libraries
Quark XPress' library feature lets you store often used objects for later use. Another use is for providing graphics for someone else to use when laying out pages. If you give someone a library, they don't need the high-res images, just the screen previews. When you get the file back, XPress will remember the links to your original files and everything will print at high resolution.

Technology News
Epson has released the US version of its Driver Updater 1.0cEs for its Stylus Color and Photo printers. The patch "improves compatibility with Remote Access, corrects an issue where characters printed from Microsoft Word or Appleworks [get] clipped or dropped from the right edge of the printed page, and eliminates the issue of dots in the margin when using [the] digital camera correction [setting]."
